SMARTBET HELPS OUT INJURED JOCKEY
Each week the Smartbet Club places a free $50 bet for charity on its best bet of the day. Our most recent beneficiary was injured Queensland jockey Jason Hoopert.
Jason - one of Queensland's most successful provincial and country jockeys - suffered head injuries, broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken right forearm in a horror race fall at Kilcoy in July last year. He remained in a drug-induced coma for several days afterwards and, according to doctors, only survived because of his excellent physical fitness.
Recently, we had the pleasure of catching up with Jason and providing him with a cheque for $1,192.50 to go towards his continued rehabilitation. Although it appears his riding career may be over, Jason is already pursuing new opportunites with the same enthusiasm and positivity he has displayed throughout his remarkable recovery.
